bedroom progress

As per the request to see the room that got painted yesterday……it’s a looong way from being pulled together, but here is the wall with some colors I like with it.  The color is a little darker than what I envisioned [a little darker than how it photographed here], but I’m going to stay the course….have some furniture to paint that will probably throw more light back on the walls.  Also, from trying to always find the right paint colors for my home, I have learned that light bulbs play a significant role in the way color is reflected…haven’t played with that yet….

So the plan is to accent with corals which are showing more pink in the pic here :(  The pillow is there, because it is a creamy, warm linen….I think that color will be brought in with bedding, and I’m thinking of, maybe,  painting my armoire and bed the same color.

Sorry, I just gave my wide angle lens to Jenna to use to take pics for her blog, So I can’t give you the full effect.

I’m also thinking I might paint the white walls in the picture above the same creamy linen color…not sure yet…I just think that little alcove needs to be a different color than the blue maybe [?]…and the chest pictured a coral?  not sure at all….

I am struggling a bit with the color of my wood floor in the room….it’s looking a little orange with the walls this color, but I think I can use a rug to break that up.

sooooo this is such a different look for me…I am usually more mellow in paint choices….last night I was feeling like I must be living in the Miami Dolphin locker room….but……perhaps it’s time the cheese got moved

It usually takes me a while to accept a new look…

So that’s where we are today…still playing :)

Janet Carlson on Facebook - Wow. Nice. The white furniture really sets it off. We’ll be painting next week. We’re looking at a pale light teal in addition to a medium teal.

Jenna - Just don’t add orange and you should be okay. ;)
Looks GREAT! Creamy linen, white trim, some pinky coral {don’t go too orange!} and it will be a little paradise. :)
Now if only I could decide on a paint color…sigh…

debi - Janet — be sure to post some pics on FB :)

Jenna –right, orange is a no no :) I’m loving the creamy linen and even wondering if I should paint the wood in the room that color….but that’s another BIG project that I’m not ready to tackle yet.
So far, I’ll have to paint the armoire and the BED which is looking very orange too….but that’s not a big deal…one thing leads to another, right?

Angie Payton Craig on Facebook - I like your color choices – will be anxious to see pics when done!

debi - Angie…..thanks :) I will share as I go!

Sarah P - I love it! I like all of your ideas too… of painting the wall the creamy linen color too… that would help tone the color down visually. :o) I love your taste. Beautiful. :o)

debi - Sarah…I value your artist’s eye…thanks so much for you input!

Janet Carlson on Facebook - I like it with no changes. It is very fresh and tropical.

Mary Alice - Debi, Emily just walked by and her first comment was “That’s pretty”. She put into words what my thoughts were.:) I think that you are moving in the right directions with the colors you have chosen to compliment the wall. I can’t wait to see the finished product! I know it will be lovely.:)

debi - Mary Alice–thanks for the encouragement–and tell Emily thank you too :)

…I will definitely post pics when the project is complete.
