thrusdays at mia’s

When we drove up the the exit ramp at the end of our recent trip I asked John if we could turn right instead of left, because turning right meant going to Trey and Brenton’s house!  I missed my little guys and could hardly wait to see them.  I could hardly believe the change I saw in Mr. B. in just two and a half weeks time.  No longer a baby, he looks older, has a larger vocabulary, and has filled out!  I managed to snap a couple of shots when he was over for his Thursday visit today, so you could see how much he’s grown. Don’t you love the watch?  He rescued it from the bottom of the toy drawer at my house last month and wears it almost everyday.

moving in

Welcome to Leah’s home for the next three months where she will be studying and living while she completes an internship in DC this fall.  Her efficiency is cozy and comfortable….definitely a step up from the dorm room she’s been living in.  John and I dropped her here on Saturday after spending two nights and a day checking out the area.  We loved getting to know the city apart from the usual tourist must-dos…and are excited for what this time of learning and growing will mean to Leah.

waiting for gracie

Isn’t this the cutest little couple?  Meet Daniel and Beth…proud first time parents of Gracie Carmichael, who is due to arrive any day!  I can hardly wait to see what she looks like, but am certain she will be c.u.t.e. like her mama and daddy.  I’ll miss being able to get those days-old baby photos since I live far away, but maybe Gracie will indulge me when I go back in October and you can meet her then.

random friday

When Jenna came by to leave the boys while she went to a wedding rehearsal this evening, I quickly snapped a picture of her. She’s a little over 2 months away from the big delivery! Can’t wait to take some real maternity pics of her

practicing

Today a friend who babysits for her granddaughter called to ask me if I could sit in for her while her daughter in law went to a dentist appointment.  Up until today, I had only seen pictures of this little doll.  It was fun watching a little girl again.  After being around the boys, I had almost forgotten what a little girl is like.  Her voice is quieter, higher….little girl like…and she has the cutest little giggle.  Watching Jenna was a delight….and I guess you could say I’m practicing, because my Jenna is, after having two little boys,  expecting a girl in the fall!

a little bit of heaven

Today John and I were honored to be a part of sharing in celebration with friends who…after long faith tested years…have adopted the little bundle of joy who came into their lives 5 years ago…Nevaeh.  If you look really closely, you may realize that her name is Heaven spelled backwards!  She is full of personality, she is beautiful, and she is theirs!  And today, they dedicated her to the Lord before their church family who have prayed long and hard for this miracle.  God is good!  His ways are perfect!

isn’t she lovely…

…isn’t she beautiful….I always loved that first line of the song by Stevie Wonder…and it’s so true [inside and out] of Roz, my pastor’s wife.  She wanted a few pics for brochures, postcards, and her guest speaker profile.  I love the color she chose….makes my job easy!

Brenton…who’s hair grows faster than any weed I’ve ever seen….got a new haircut.  He looks even older than he did the first time.  It’s funny how small things like that seem to change things.  He even seems to act older. The stickers on his outfit are compliments of PaPa who dug them out of his top desk drawer.  Brenton loved them, so after he left I peeled them off  the other places he stuck them to recycle them for next time :)

thursday’s at mia’s

yep….it was only a matter of time….the boys have discovered and shown an interest in the football.  We had a fun packed day yesterday.  First, we met an old friend who is in town and her grandson and headed to the local pool around the corner, where we played in the kiddie area of the pool.  It is equipped with slides, water spouts, water guns, and a tire swing, all in about a foot or so of water.  PERFECT.  The best part is….it’s FREE.  I think we will be going back there.  Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my camera, but with all the water and splashing, it’s probably just as well.

After lunch it was outside play with the football and Aunt Leah’s leprechaun hat[thanks Aunt Leah]….hmmmmmmm perfect pic for Notre Dame marketing, maybe?

thursday’s at mia’s

When PaPa drove in from work, the boys were as excited as usual to see him.  After visiting a while he took their mommy’s car, with them in it, and disappeared.  They were going to the grocery store to get dessert for our dinner…..cupcakes!  I wondered what was taking them so long, when I found out they were taking a side trip to the dollar store.  It reminded me of the times my parents would come to visit and pick the girls up and take them to McCrory’s….one of the last of the old fashioned dime stores….where they would each pick out something to buy.

They came home with these fun water pumps and squirt guns.  Brenton kept squirting his using his thumb instead of his trigger finger.  He squirted it sideways…it was too funny.  But Trey knew just what to do with all the toys.  It just so happened that their Mommy brought swimsuits, so after dinner we hooked the sprinkler up, filled a 5 gallon bucket  with water…………and had a water extravaganza in the front yard.  Trey kept losing his drawers…..as you can see in the pictures.  But they enjoyed it so much.  And it was lots of fun watching them!

watching

3

The boys are over today. Mommy’s not feeling well, so I went and picked them up just before lunch.  I think they have enjoyed watching the painter paint our roof….Trey’s been pretty fascinated with it, but doesn’t want to get too close….is content watching from inside :)

great family

Thanks to Sarah who asked me to help her shoot this wonderful family.  They were so fun to watch interact with one another. And I was blessed to hear not one word of complaining from ANYONE….including children or dad :)  although it was a scorching evening!
I still have some tweaking to do, but here are a few first edits.
